Happy Birthday David

Today is Thursday, June 30, 2005. My brother David was born on this day in 1963. I wish him a Happy Birthday! And, as I often do now here to celebrate people's birthdays, I have found a strange collection of images from the web which all have one thing in common - 1963...

I think the astronaut could use one of those wigs from the trio of Tresh Wig wearers. Seeing the headline Kennedy Slain on Dallas Street reminds me that 1963 ushered in a new era, the postmodern era where the hippies replaced the beats and the Beatles replaced Bebop--the second half of the 20th century began in '63 with death of JFK. It's also Lena Horne's B-day today. She made it to the cover of Ebony that you posted and she's with us still at like 88 years old or so. Liz is here today without Richard, and as your Photoplay cover reveals, Liz has managed to ignite the tabloids for a very long time...not so much lately, though. I think I would like to place the spacesuit on the old lady in the next to last picture. She looks like she could use a lift, but that spaceman's crotch-strap could be hell on her constitution. For all we know that may be exactly where she is heading in that behemouth of Detroit metal she's standing in front of. Then again, that car may have been moving. Anyway, thanks for the birthday tidings and good cheer to you!
